Speak Up on Digital Safety—Plus Updates from Moneylife Foundation

Dear Moneylifers,

Greetings. We have a few important updates and opportunities lined up this month, starting with a quick reminder that you can influence how digital payments are made safer by filling up our survey. I would also like your thoughts on our housing society handbook, and finally a note of thanks for your continued support for our donation matching campaign.

First Up: Your Voice on Digital Payment Safeguards

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has invited public feedback on its proposed measures to improve digital payment safety, in response to the rising incidence of cyber fraud. We have to submit our views before 8th May, so we intend to close the survey on the morning of 6th May. Help us get at least 1000 responses to make the findings more robust. |

RBI proposals include short delays in certain transactions, additional authentication for senior citizens, limits on specific accounts, and customer-controlled features such as a "kill switch."

While these steps are intended to enhance safety, they could also affect convenience and ease of use. This is where your feedback matters.

Moneylife Foundation is conducting a short survey to gather public feedback. We have already received nearly 600 responses and are keen to widen participation before submitting a consolidated response.

If you would like a simple breakdown of the proposals, you can read our explainer here: RBI's Proposed Digital Payment Safeguards: What Do They Mean for You?

Your responses will help shape a structured submission to the RBI on this important issue.

Housing Society Handbook: What Next

Our Practical Handbook for Housing Societies is now down to around 25 physical copies, available at our Prabhadevi office. While the Foundation does not sell the book, we may consider printing additional copies at cost if there is sufficient interest from members who can collect them. If you would like a copy, please write to us at [email protected]. This will help us assess demand. |

We are also exploring a Marathi edition of the handbook. If this would be useful to you or your housing society, do let us know—your feedback will guide our next steps.
